KRUGER NATIONAL PARK
Kruger National Park is the largest game reserve in South Africa. It covers 7,332 sq miles (18,989 square km) (that’s larger than the entire state of New Jersey, and nearly as large as the state of Massachusetts!!) and extends 217 miles (350 km) from north to south. Several rivers run through the park from west to east, including the Sabie River. The park is part of the Kruger Canyons Biosphere, an area designated by the United Nations Education and Scientific Organization (UNESCO) as an International Biosphere Reserve.
The Kruger National Park has six distinct eco-systems. 1,982 species of plants, , 517 species of bird and 147 species of animals. |
