THE VICTORIA FALLS - The largest sheet of falling water in the worldThe Victoria Falls or Mosi-oa-Tunya (In Shona: the Smoke that Thunders) is a world famous waterfall situated in southern Africa on the Zambezi River between Zambia and Zimbabwe. The falls are some of the largest in the world, and are considered as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Victoria Falls was so named by legendary Scottish explorer David Livingstone. While it is neither the highest nor the widest waterfall in the world, it is claimed to be the largest, based on a width of 1.7 kilometers (1 mile) and height of 108 meters (360 ft), forming the largest sheet of falling water in the world.
The Victoria Falls inspire visitors as much today as it did David Livingstone in the 1860's. There is a magic about them manifested in the towering column of spray and the thunder of the falling water. The Victoria Falls is also known to be the adventure capitol of the world.
